Pulling from his diverse and profound life experiences, Darryl brings intensity and depth to his music that captures you in its realness and truth. Through an upbringing marked at times by uncertainty, Darryl had to find much of his own way through the years, oftentimes searching for truth in the wrong places and finding that reality waits for no one. Through those times, however, Darryl found power in his words and thoughts, which ultimately translated to the style and sound that he portrays today. Inspired by early country legends of the ’80s and ’90s, Darryl Ryan found his voice in country music and the realness of those songs. In powerful, emotive ballads such as “The Way It Was Supposed to Be” (see YouTube), Darryl renders words and music that course a straight path from his own soul and dreams to those of the listener. But as equally as he can tear at your heartstrings, he also can arouse an energy and enthusiasm inside his listeners with such songs as his debut single “Not Enough Town”. Combine all this with Darryl’s dynamic voice and one immediately knows they are hearing an artist with their own unique sound.
From San Jose, California, Darryl Ryan grew up playing football and basketball, but music was always a big part of his life. Finding time to practice while playing sports was another story, however, and ultimately he chose music over basketball, turning down offers to play in college. Shortly thereafter he had written his first song and the journey had begun. Soon he was playing in an established country music band traveling throughout California, starting out as an acoustic rhythm player and working his way to lead guitar and singer. It wasn’t long after that he knew he had to move to Nashville, but it wasn’t a straight line, as he went through Texas and Colorado along the way, playing the local Opry’s and clubs throughout each state and finishing college. Eventually he made it to Nashville where he immersed himself in the music scene, honing his writing skills and playing in local clubs as well as playing lead guitar and fronting bands.
Darryl has worked alongside some amazing songwriters, artists and producers in Nashville and is now starting to gain national attention. He has just released his debut single “Not Enough Town” to radio stations in the U.S. and internationally, and he just completed a radio tour that took him throughout the U.S. and to where he performed live on 650 WSM (official radio station of the Grand Ole Opry).
